Vintage Signed Sarah Coventry Brooch - Aqua Fleur design - 1950s-1960s
Founded in 1949 by Charles Stuart, Sarah Coventry is a Canadian costume jewellery brand that was distributed via direct selling, similar to Avon or Tupperware rather than via retail outlets; it was marketed specifically as being reasonably priced, there were no up-front charges for demonstration kits, and both men and women were recruited to market the jewellery. It rapidly became one of the most popular jewellery brands of the mid-20th century. Sadly the company filed for bankruptcy in 1984, manufacturing moved to China and India, and finally ceased completely in 2008.
This lovely flower design brooch measures approx 2.5" in length and is in good vintage condition. It has been put through an ultrasonic jewellery cleaner for hygiene.
