Vintage Signed Rolled Gold Cameo Brooch by Kollmar & Jourdan
This is a beautiful vintage / antique Cameo brooch from German jewellers Kollmar & Jourdan
The stamp on the back says Rolled Gold followed by the maker's mark of the initials KJ with an arrow though them. They were were an important manufacturing firm of jewellers based in Pforzheim in the Black Forrest, Germany from 1888 to 1977.
Their later pieces tended much more towards Modernism; this would seem to be one of their earlier pieces. The beautiful natural colour variation suggests the Cameo is carved from Carnelian shell as was common during the Edwardian era.
The other stamp "FOREIGN" indicates that this piece was intended for the export market.
